Petition Congress to declare August 6 as Nuclear Disarmament Day
It's time to call on Congress to join us in making August 6 Nuclear Disarmament Day. Download and circulate the petition at
http://disarm.wilpf.org/node/25. Mail it to WILPF (as instructed on the bottom of the petition) by September 5 for hand delivery to your Congressional delegation..
Or sign it on line and send it around to all your friends. Go to http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/nucleardisarmamentday.
All petitions will be hand delivered to Congress during the week of September 15. It is time for Congress to seriously support the call of the majority of U.S. citizens and many of our Mayors and City Councils for a nuclear free future.
The petition is a grassroots effort supported by the Burlington Vermont Branch of Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and the Mayor of that city who has declared the first August 6 Nuclear Disarmament Day. The WILPF U.S. Section now supports the effort and invites U.S. citizens everywhere to join us in the call to Congress.
We believe the world is ready for nuclear disarmament, but U.S. leadership is required to move us forward. For detailed information on efforts to achieve nuclear weapons abolition through the United Nations visit WILPF's dedicated website at http://www.reachingcriticalwill.org .
