Prophetic Voices of the Hibakusha
“Hibakusha” (Japanese survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki which took place August 6th and 9th, 1945) tell their deeply personal and painful stories in the hopes that the tragedy of nuclear warfare will never again be repeated.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS, SATURDAY, AUGUST 9TH:
Vigil - 6:00 – 6:30 pm: Calling for an end to nuclear weapons, Intersection of Patrick and Market Streets in downtown Frederick, Maryland. Members of the public are invited to participate. Wearing black is optional. Signs are provided.
Processional 6:30 pm: From the vigil site approximately one block to Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ social hall, 15 W. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland.
Program 7:00 – 8:30 pm: Hibakusha give their personal testimonies; Washington Peace Center representative discusses its involvement with the Hibakusha and related peace projects.
This event is free and open to the public. Donations to support the tour and other related projects are optional. Refreshments will be provided
