On August 6 Tucson WILPF Branch asks City Council to say "No Bombing Iran."
Hiroshima Day is a good day on which to take a resolution to the City Council calling for diplomacy, not bombs, in response to Iran's nuclear programs.
Tucson Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and the Raging Grannies have already been successful in winning unanimous support of the CIty Council for Representative Lynn Woolsey's H. Res 68. That legislation calls for U.S. compliance with the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty and leadership in taking practical steps, along with all other nations, toward the global abolition of nuclear weapons.
On August 6 they will approach the City Council again with a resolution calling for direct talks with Iran, as have been occurring with North Korea, rather than bombing of nuclear power installations.
